The Biden administration detained or deported only eight out of more than 100 migrants with suspected links to ISIS who entered the U.S. illegally, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard disclosed Wednesday during a visit to the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gabbard stated that the Trump administration is now working to locate and address the threats posed by these individuals, as well as manage the consequences of the previous administration\u2019s handling of the situation. She made these remarks at a press conference in Eagle Pass, Texas, alongside Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Gabbard, the migrants, originating from Central Asian nations known for ISIS recruitment, were linked to an “ISIS-affiliated network.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She further revealed that intelligence reports had warned the Biden administration that over 4,000 migrants had entered the U.S. using smugglers associated with ISIS, and that federal authorities had identified “hundreds” of them as either confirmed terrorists or individuals connected to known terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon assuming her role, Gabbard found that only eight of the migrants were still in custody or had been deported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat information was provided to the Biden Administration. You may remember in some of the news a little over one hundred of those people were arrested in 2024. Of those who were arrested, only eight were either deported or remained in custody,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOnly eight, the rest of them were released back into our country. Where are they? What are they doing? What may they be plotting? This is just the beginning,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During their visit to Eagle Pass, Gabbard, Vance, and Hegseth toured the southern border, speaking with federal and local officials and visiting a detention facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vice President Vance highlighted the sharp decline in illegal crossings under President Trump\u2019s administration, claiming border security had reached record levels of enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Eagle Pass area, illegal crossings have reportedly plummeted from 1,500 per day to just 30, according to Vance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt turns out we didn\u2019t need new laws, we didn\u2019t need fancy legislation, we just needed a new president of the United States,\u201d Vance stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
